Ever seen pictures or videos of people’s face looking all glowy but with speck of blood and wondered what it is? Well I’m here to tell you… but first thing’s first, if you an at home ‘dermaroller’ – throw it away now! These rollers are dangerous because the needles to not penetrate the skin vertically, or at an equal depth, often causing infection, if you want to do this, let’s do it properly!
Microneedling works by using small, sterile needles in the dermapen to penetrate the skin at a set depth, dependent on skin type and areas being treated. These needles create mini traumas in your skin, to create new skin cells to rid you of your skin problems! After the traumas have been made, the skin channels remain open for 20 minutes afterwards so I like to make sure we get all kinds of goodness infused into your skin afterwards to optimise your results.
I’ve seen the blood before, does it hurt?
If can be uncomfortable so dependent on the client’s threshold, and the agreed depth of needle, so clients may require numbing cream and this is agreed prior to treatment, and the cream will be applied for 20 minutes before the treatment. For some people, microneedling does cause some pin prick bleeding, but don’t worry, this is completely normal and will be wiped away during and after your treatment.
How long does it take until I see results?
You get that glow straight away! Multiple sessions are needed to get serious results for acne scarring, pigmentation and skin tone, but if you want to just look and feel amazing, or have a special event coming up, this is perfect a day or 2 before to get you glowing.
